RCB Parenting Course
At Unicorn Photographics, a lot of our business comes from families with children. We love children and we know that parenting can be a challenging job. One of the best sources of parenting information we know of is a course and a book called, Redirecting Children's Behavior. By special arrangement, we are pleased to offer our clients access to the Redirecting Children's Behavior™ parenting skills course offered by one of our other businesses, Sensible Parenting.
Effective strategies for today's adult/child relationship can make parenting a lot more fun. You can have the kind of relationship with your children you have dreamed of, and you can help them develop skills to become loving, motivated and successful adults. Redirecting Children's Behavior™ is strongly influenced by the work of Rudolf Dreikurs, MD., author of the highly acclaimed book "Children: The Challenge".The course was developed by Kathryn Kvols author of the book "Redirecting Children's Behavior" and founder of the International Network for Children and Families ( INCAF.) All of Sensible Parenting's "Redirecting Children's Behavior" instructors are certified by INCAF. In our fast-paced society, adults and children spend much of their time in separate environments.We all want to make the most of the time we have together, however, it can become difficult for us to give of ourselves or get what we want from our relationships. You can have the kind of relationship with your children you have dreamed of, and you can help them develop skills to become loving, motivated and successful adults.The Redirecting Children's Behavior™ (RCB™) course pricing is based upon a two person enrollment. We believe it is very important to take this course with someone who can help support you in developing the new skills and tools that you are taught. It can be your spouse, a co-worker, grandparent, friend or anyone who relates to children.If you do not have anyone with whom you can share this course, we will provide the course to individuals, but you and your children will gain a lot from taking the course with someone to support you as you begin using the new skills. And it costs less (per person) to take it with someone!The RCB™ course is only five weeks long. Classes are held once per week and are about three hours each. Between each class there is a week to practice your new skills. Courses held in the north Austin/Round Rock, TX area unless otherwise noted.
Redirecting Children's Behavior Course Objectives (by Week)
Session 1
- Prevent sibling and peer rivalry
- Replace fighting with negotiation and co-operation
- Teach children to resolve their own conflicts
- Understand a child's behavior and how it relates to birth order
Session 2
- Teach children respect and responsibility
- Creating a self-motivated child
- Explore how parenting methods affect children
- Building a child's self-confidence
Session 3
- Understanding why a child misbehaves
- Learn specific techniques that work for each goal of misbehavior
- Offer choices so that your child can make healthy decisions
Session 4
- Teach self-control
- Find ways to hold children accountable for their actions
- Application of natural and logical consequences to behavior
Session 5
- How to win the other parent's cooperation
- Planning for family meetings
- Opening communications between all family members
- Graduation
* RCB 5 week courses may qualify for 15 hours of In-Service Training Credits (ask us how.)
** SensibleParenting.com provides graduates of our RCB classes the opportunity to review the RCB Course at no additional charge, adding value to your investment in your family. Standard Enrollment includes two hours of post-graduation parent coaching by your instructors.
Our goal is to enable everyone who truly wants to take this course to be able to do so. There are a limited number of partial scholarships and special financing opportunities for those who need financial assistance. Availability is subject to qualification of need, without consideration of race, religion, age or other non-financial considerations. However, scholarships are granted solely based upon availability and at the discretion of Sensible Parenting.

***Refund Policy: If I am dissatisfied with the course and have attended and participated in all course sessions and assignments, my tuition will be refunded (minus a $50 materials fee); otherwise my tuition and deposit are non refundable. Tuition is payable in advance and due before the first session. My seat in the course is not guaranteed until full payment is received. In order to gain full benefits of this course, I will attend all scheduled classes, return the course information sheet and read the assigned materials prior to the course sessions.
Informed consent: All courses are educational; and as such, are not intended to be a substitute for family counseling or psychotherapy. Personal matters may be discussed during these classes and I agree to keep such matters confidential. No portion of the text, workbook, written or verbal presentations may be reproduced (including audio and video recordings) without the written consent of the authors and/or course instructors.
